A Casual Chic Bump

My Sketchers are by far my most versatile and comfiest purchase I made this year.  A lot of moms and mamas-to-be have told me about the inevitable swollen feet during pregnancy.  My first thought was noooooo….not my beloved collection of shoes!  But I have to say so far so good (…for now :s).  I haven’t really felt like my feet have swollen up just yet, however, I bought these super comfy lightweight walking shoes just to make myself feel better in case they really do later on.

Pregnancy Update:

How far along? 29 Weeks

Baby is the size of an:  Acorn squash!

Total weight gain: 15 lbs

Baby is a:  Girl!

Stretch marks? Nope.

Sleep:  This definitely wasn’t the best week when it came to sleep.  I went to bed with a plugged nose so I had to breathe through my mouth.  I also woke up with very painful leg cramps twice this week!  I never understood what leg cramps moms were talking about when they were pregnant until now.

Best moment this week:  I had a pretty crappy week due to being sick but on Friday the parents in my class gave me a card and an end of the year gift that literally brought me to tears.  Teachers are currently going through a very tough time at the moment with this whole strike action and the recent labor relations board hearing results were even more discouraging.  Even though teachers have a ton of support from parents and students all around, as they know they are ultimately fighting for better education for their kids, its hard for teachers to feel like their tireless efforts at work are being appreciated when dealing with the current issues they have with the government.  As strike action may continue to escalate in the upcoming weeks, the parents in my class wanted to make sure I got a proper appreciation gift for the year in case school is completely cancelled next week.  I’m not sure if it was the pregnancy hormones taking over but when I read each and every heart warming and genuine comment that each family wrote in the card, I couldn’t hold back my tears.  In the midst of all this chaos currently in the school system, I felt a sense of calmness and appreciation for the work that we do as teachers.  So that was by far my very best moment this week!

Worst moment of the week:  My sore throat was gone but my sinus was completely plugged up.  I had a runny nose, sore eyes and plugged ears.  The only thing I didn’t mind was my raspy voice.  I’ve always wanted a raspy voice (haha, I know!) but boy, did I feel like crap though this week.  Ugh.  I’ve also been told this week that I need to eat more as I’m still on the lower percentile in terms of weight gain for my pregnancy.  That did not make me happy as I’m already eating like a monster…plus, I’m sick this week so perhaps my appetite was not its usual state.

Have you told family and friends:  Yes!

Miss Anything?  ADVIL!  I soooooo wanted to take it this week especially because of the stupid nasty cold.  Ugh!

Movement:  Definitely!  The movements are actually getting stronger too.  Before only a part of my belly would move but recently the whole belly seems to shift when she kicks.  I think she has upgraded from practicing her karate kicks to actually performing karate combo moves.

Food Cravings:  Nothing unusual this week.  I was trying my very best to eat healthy in order to kick this cold in the butt!  I still had a burger from A and W though, but I skipped out on the fries.

Anything making you queasy or sick:  Nope…except for the LRB ruling this week. >=P

Have you started to show yet?  For sure!  One of the moms at school walked up to me and whispered, “can we talk about how cute you look with that baby bump?” lol!  It made my day!

Belly Button in or out?  In, but barely…I feel like it could pop out any day now.

Wedding rings on or off?  On

Happy or Moody most of the time:  I was definitely more moody this week because I was sick but I was happy that my hubby gave me the ‘babying treatment’ at home (snuggles, foot rubs, and kisses). =)

Looking forward to:  The nursery furniture arriving this week.

Brim, Bubbles & Bows

This week my husband said something to me that almost made me want to strangle him.  He asked me one night while he was washing the dishes, “hun, when should we have our second child?”  Perhaps I’m in my third trimester now and am finally feeling heavier with all the added effects of having a bigger belly to carry around, but I responded with “are you kidding me?!  You’re asking me about the second and I haven’t even pushed this one out yet?!”  After my big freak out attack on him, he said he meant when I want to have another baby rather than him asking for one right after.  Oh…oops, I guess my over-reactive hormones were on full blast that night.  hehe.

Pregnancy Update:

How far along? 28 Weeks

Baby is the size of an:  Eggplant!

Total weight gain: 12 lbs

Baby is a:  Girl!

Stretch marks? Nope.

Sleep:  Definitely been waking up more frequently in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom!

Best moment this week:  Having a little one on one time with the hubby at the spa.  We went for our couples massage after work and it really helped us relax and rejuvenate.  We try to do this at least once every other month but because I get a specific pregnancy massage now, we try to go once a month.  I love how they have a special pillow that has a hole in the middle for where your pregnant belly goes so that I’m not squishing my baby during the massage.  I really miss lying on my tummy so this was a really wonderful experience. =)

Worst moment of the week:  I started having a sore throat in the middle of the week.  I think it was because I was standing outside for three hours in the pouring rain during the teacher strike day for our district.  I already made sure I bundled myself up before going out there but I guess I caught something.  I drank a ton of honey lemon water that night and made sure I slept lots.  I’m definitely feeling more like myself now.  Just glad it didn’t get too bad because I can’t really take any medication right now.

Have you told family and friends:  Yes!

Miss Anything?  Travelling!  Two of my girlfriends that my hubby and I have travelled to Europe with are currently on a trip to HK, Korea and Japan.  I’m totally living vicariously through them and the pictures they send me through whatsapp everyday.  So sweet that they think of me when they see a store I love or food I like to eat and send me a picture.  I will try my very best not to be too jelly.  lol.

Movement:  More like when is she ever still?  I swear, she practices her karate kicks in me every single day.  Sometimes, I literally jump out of my seat when she kicks me near my girly parts.  But that’s okay…it’s comforting to know she’s doing well in there.

Food Cravings:  I really wanted an Arby’s deluxe baked potato this week and fulfilled that craving.  A hot baked potato with butter, cheddar cheese, bacon, chives and extra sour cream was just what I wanted.  😉 mmm

Anything making you queasy or sick:  Nope.

Have you started to show yet?  For sure!  Although everyone still thinks I’m pretty small for nearly seven months preggers.  I think that will change soon….definitely feeling like its harder to get up from bed in the morning.

Belly Button in or out?  In, but getting shallower each day.  I’m still totally creeped out by my belly button.  ugh!

Wedding rings on or off?  On

Happy or Moody most of the time:  Happy! =) minus the sore throat day.

Looking forward to:  my next OB appointment and checking more things off the to-do list.  Only 2 and a half more months to go! ahhhhhh!!!

DSC02843 DSC02848 DSC02851 DSC02856 DSC02864

Wow, am I really six and a half months preggers now?  It’s crazy to think time has gone by so fast and I’m already in my final trimester. =)  The students in my class are so sweet.  They’ve been writing letters to the baby, drawing pictures of my growing belly and giving her tons of hugs throughout the day.  I seriously feel I have the best job in the whole world!  Hope you’re having a splendid weekend so far!  Thanks for dropping by to check up on me.  Cheers!

Pregnancy Update:

How far along? 26 Weeks

Baby is the size of a:  head of lettuce!

Total weight gain: 11 lbs

Baby is a:  Girl!

Stretch marks? Nope.  Honestly, I really don’t care if I do get them though…it’s not like I’m a supermodel and need to be in a bikini a few weeks after giving birth.

Symptoms:  I’m starting to feel more tired at the end of the day.  Naps are an absolute necessity at the moment.

Sleep:  Pretty good this week.  The only thing is I can’t seem to sleep in on the weekends anymore.

Best moment this week:  My childhood friend and I have an annual Mother’s Day tradition where we basically double date and take our moms out for high tea.  This year was just like every other year except I also felt like it was my first soon to be mother’s day as well.  I received many sweet texts from dear friends that wished me a happy soon-to-be mother’s day and even my hubby took me out for brunch and got me a little gift.

Worst moment of the week:  I woke up one night this week and literally felt like I wanted to barf.  Good thing my hubby was still awake to help me out.  He brought me tums, water, and a bag in case I actually needed to use it.  It was so weird because I haven’t had any morning sickness at all since the beginning of my pregnancy.  We later figured out that it was probably because of the very rushed dinner we had that night, combined with watching spiderman 2 in ultra AVX that brought up some nausea and indigestion in me later on.  I have so much sympathy for the moms out there that have morning sickness throughout their pregnancy.  Holy moly!  I don’t know how I’d be able to do it. Kudos to the moms that went through months of that!

Have you told family and friends:  Yes!

Miss Anything?  Travelling!  My hubby and I go to Europe every summer but this year, it’s all about our baby girl.

Movement:  Oh yeah!  This girl loves to practice her karate kicks in me everyday!

Food Cravings: The burgers and fries cravings came back full force this week.  I had burgers and fries about 3 -4 times this week!  What is going on?  Oh, and my appetite has seemed to increase tenfold…not only do I devour my own meal but I end up eating some of my husband’s meal afterwards too.  Needless to say, I’m one hungry preggers at the moment.  lol.

Anything making you queasy or sick:  Nope, except for that one night after the Spiderman 2 movie.  ugh…

Have you started to show yet?  For sure!  We went to Earls for dinner this week (and yes, I had burgers and fries) and the three  hostesses at the door were asking me how far along I am and how my pregnancy has been so far.

Belly Button in or out?  In, but getting shallower each day.  I’m still totally creeped out by my belly button.  ugh!

Wedding rings on or off?  On

Happy or Moody most of the time:  Happy! =)

Looking forward to:  Our 3D ultrasound coming up next week!
